try and see them too

image my own

when you look in the mirror
when you judge yourself for everything you do,
and you don't like it,
you don't like you-
the problem is that
you have been focusing
on all the bad things about yourself
for so long
that you've forgotten
how to see
all the good things about yourself.
and let me tell you, dear-
there are so many good things
about you.
try and see them too.

{this post was inspired by a quote found on Pinterest: if I could give you one thing, I would give you the ability to see yourself through my eyes, so that you can finally see how beautiful you are.}

    1. Aw, thank you so very much, dear Nyah! The quote I posted in the post is the one that inspired me: if I could give you one thing, I would give you the ability to see yourself through my eyes, so that you can finally see how beautiful you are.

  4. Very beautiful, Tane. It's also very profound to think that when we dislike ourselves, dislike what we see in the mirror we are telling God He made us wrong. He made us all unique and with different talents and gifts. And you are very special the way God made you, in and out.

Looks don't matter. Looks will fade away with the wind, its what's going on in our hearts that matter. Its the inspiration God gives, our imagination put into words and music, its our passions in life, its in the ways we give Him glory, its how our hearts break for the ones in pain. Our beauty comes from within and overflows out into our smiles and more.
I pray we all can see ourselves more through God's eyes instead of the mirror's lies or the world's lies.

  6. I love this post! The only problem, I don't know what good I have in me, so I can't look for the good in myself, because I don't know what it is. I keep on praying, but I still don't like myself. I'll carry on praying though.
It is a very good post!

    1. Hey Jemma English! I know you don't know me, but I just wanted to say, even if you personally can't see any good in yourself doesn't mean its true. I believe you have great talent and are beautiful. Sometimes we can't see any good and unique things in ourselves, but others do. And God made you so unique! There is not one other person that is like you. That is beautiful like you, that has a beautiful smile like you, that has a deep passion for something particular like you do. You are worth so much, and God has great plans with your life. So even if you don't feel like you're anything special, you truly are. <3

    2. @Jemma: You have a lot of the good things in you. I'll pray that you start seeing them. You probably won't be able to count all of them in the end. ;) Thank you!

  7. Those are beautiful words...and so true. We start to only see the bad in the mirror. I clicked over to your blog and smiled when I read your bio that you're from South Africa. My college roommate last year LOVES South Africa. She visited in high school and can't wait to live there as a missionary medical doctor. :)

    1. Hey Raewyn. :) Thank you very much...ahaha, a lot of people really love this place, not only the people who live here. It's lovely. But I really want to see America someday. So cool that she'll be here as a missionary!
